NEW DELHI : The Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports has reaffirmed that while India will not engage in any bilateral sporting events with Pakistan, its teams will continue to participate in multilateral tournaments such as the Asia Cup.
This clears the air around India’s participation in the 2025 Asia Cup, ensuring that the marquee India–Pakistan fixture remains part of the tournament schedule. The ministry stressed that Pakistan will not tour India for bilateral series, nor will Indian teams travel to Pakistan for such engagements, keeping in line with the government’s broader policy.
At the same time, India’s involvement in global and regional events will proceed, in line with international sporting obligations and the Olympic Charter.
The clarification ends weeks of speculation fueled by political tensions, offering cricket fans the reassurance that the India–Pakistan rivalry will continue on neutral ground through multinational competitions.
