KOZHIKODE: CPM leader and Beypore MLA P A Mohammed Riyas on Tuesday rejected allegations that his wife, T Veena, had admitted to hawala transactions in connection with the monthly payment case, accusing the Enforcement Directorate of misrepresenting notes linked to possible future business activities.

Riyas said reports surrounding entries in a book containing references including “Nammal Beypore” were part of what he described as a “well-crafted script” by the investigating agency.

He said the notes were prepared in connection with potential business opportunities and did not represent records of hawala transactions.

According to Riyas, the ED questioned Veena on three occasions but did not ask her any questions specifically related to alleged hawala transactions.

The remarks come amid renewed scrutiny over the monthly payment case and media reports about material cited by the ED as part of its investigation.

Summary

CPM leader and Beypore MLA P A Mohammed Riyas has rejected Enforcement Directorate claims that his wife, T Veena, admitted to hawala transactions in the monthly payment case. He says the ED misread notes, including a “Nammal Beypore” reference, which he insists were tied to future business plans, not illegal fund transfers, calling the probe narrative a scripted misrepresentation.
