MOSCOW : Indian External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar met Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow on Monday, August 24, as India and Russia seek to deepen economic ties and broaden cooperation across key sectors.
Jaishankar, who arrived in Moscow on Sunday for a two-day visit, discussed bilateral relations as well as regional and global developments with the Russian president.
The meeting comes as New Delhi and Moscow work to expand their longstanding strategic partnership, with trade and economic cooperation among the key areas of focus.
Earlier on Monday, Jaishankar held talks with Russian First Deputy Prime Minister Denis Manturov, with discussions centred on measures to further strengthen bilateral trade and economic engagement.
India and Russia maintain close ties spanning energy, defence, trade and other strategic sectors, with both governments seeking to identify new areas for economic cooperation amid a changing global geopolitical landscape.
