This is the first visit by a Kerala Chief Minister to the Sultanate in 26 years, the last being by the late E.K. Nayanar in 1999.

The visit forms part of Vijayan’s wider Gulf tour covering Bahrain, Oman, and Qatar, aimed at strengthening Kerala’s ties with the region and deepening cooperation in trade, education, healthcare, and technology.

During his stay, the Chief Minister will inaugurate the Indian Community Festival (ICF) at Al Amerat Park in Muscat a large-scale cultural event celebrating the vibrant bond between India and Oman, featuring over 700 performers from both nations.

Vijayan’s engagements in Muscat will also include meetings with business leaders, investors, and representatives of the expatriate community, exploring new avenues for collaboration in investment, innovation, and skill development.

With one of the largest Malayali expatriate populations in the Gulf, Oman remains a crucial partner for Kerala both economically and socially. Vijayan’s visit underlines his government’s commitment to strengthening diaspora relations and positioning Kerala as a strategic partner in the Gulf’s growth story.
