SANAA : Israeli warplanes launched heavy airstrikes on Sanaa on Sunday, striking sites controlled by Yemen’s Houthi movement in retaliation for missile and drone attacks against Israel earlier this week.
The Israeli military said its targets included military facilities, an oil plant, a power station, and the presidential complex. Residents reported powerful blasts across the capital, including near Sabeen Square.
Houthi media claimed their air defenses engaged Israeli aircraft, while senior leader Mohammed al-Bukhaiti insisted the strikes would not deter operations carried out “in support of Gaza.”
The escalation highlights the growing regional dimensions of the conflict, with Israel expanding its strikes beyond Gaza and Lebanon to Houthi-controlled Yemen.
