DUBAI : Dubai-based global ports operator DP World has appointed Essa Kazim as chairman of its board of directors and Yuvraj Narayan as group chief executive officer, the Dubai Media Office said on Friday.

The leadership changes come amid heightened scrutiny in the United States after members of Congress said the name of long-serving chairman and CEO Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem appeared in documents linked to the late financier Jeffrey Epstein.

DP World did not immediately comment on the congressional remarks.

Bin Sulayem, one of Dubai’s most prominent business figures, has led the company for more than four decades, overseeing its transformation into one of the world’s largest logistics and port operators. The company says it handles around 10% of global trade through its network of ports and terminals.

DP World, which operates in dozens of countries, has played a central role in expanding Dubai’s position as a global trade and logistics hub.
