Google photos enhances with AI: Voice edits, art filters, global search

Google has rolled out a sweeping update to its Photos app, adding a host of AI-powered tools that transform how users edit, search, and interact with their images.

Washington: The latest update to Google Photos introduces a redesigned photo editor and an “Ask” button that allows users to simply describe what they want changed in a picture, be it removing an unwanted object or enhancing a smile, and the AI handles the rest. Initially limited to Pixel 10 phones since its launch last August, the feature is now available on iOS devices as well.

Among the standout additions is the Personalized Edits feature, which enables users to modify facial features or other elements in photos through simple text or voice commands. Another major highlight is the integration of Google’s Nano Banana image model, which lets users creatively restyle their photos as classic paintings, comic scenes, or even vintage portraits.

The newly introduced “Ask” button also enhances interactivity by helping users find details about a photo or discover similar moments in their gallery.

In addition to editing, Google has expanded its AI-powered photo search feature to more than 100 countries and 17 new languages, including Arabic, French, German, Hindi, Japanese, and Portuguese.
