Russian President Vladimir Putin praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s efforts to end the Ukraine war, saying he had proposed ideas for a peaceful settlement.

MOSCOW : Russian President Vladimir Putin praised Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s efforts to help end the war in Ukraine, saying he regularly calls for an end to the conflict and proposes ideas for a peaceful settlement.

Speaking at the Valdai Discussion Club forum on Thursday, Putin said Modi continued to raise the issue despite their close personal ties and friendly relations between India and Russia, The Times of India reported.

Modi has “very good ideas” aimed at finding solutions acceptable to both sides, Putin said.

The Russian leader described Modi’s position as neutral, while stressing his interest in ending the conflict.

Putin said Moscow was grateful for Modi’s proposals and his desire to bring the war to an end through peaceful means as soon as possible.

At the Valdai Discussion Club, Putin expressed gratitude for Modi's peace-driven proposals, acknowledging India's commitment to ending the Ukraine conflict through diplomacy.
