THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Travancore Devaswom Board President K Jayakumar on Monday dismissed reports that he was considering stepping down, calling the claims “totally baseless” and saying there were no differences between him and the state government.

Jayakumar told reporters that he would remain in office until his tenure ends in November 2027 and said there was no reason for him to resign.

“We have no issues with the minister. If there is any issue, we will hold talks and resolve it. There is no need for me to resign,” Jayakumar said.

His comments came amid reports suggesting friction between the Devaswom Board and the government. Jayakumar rejected those claims, saying the minister’s office had not interfered in the functioning of the board.

He said the board was currently focused on preparations for the upcoming Sabarimala pilgrimage season, with several arrangements required ahead of the expected influx of devotees.

Jayakumar also addressed reports surrounding security arrangements, saying there was nothing unusual about providing a guard to the minister if requested.

“The reports being circulated are totally baseless. There are no other issues presently. Things are going smoothly,” he said.

Jayakumar said reports claiming that he had expressed a willingness to resign were “absolutely false”, adding that he had no differences of opinion with the government.
