PM Modi reassures Qatar Emir, condemns strike on Doha

Indian Prime Minister voiced concern over the violation of Qatar’s sovereignty and praised the Gulf state’s role in promoting regional peace, including its mediation efforts in Gaza.

NEW DELHI : Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke by phone on Wednesday with Qatar’s Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani and condemned the recent attack on Doha, India’s foreign ministry said.

Modi voiced concern over the violation of Qatar’s sovereignty and praised the Gulf state’s role in promoting regional peace, including its mediation efforts in Gaza.

He reiterated India’s support for resolving disputes through dialogue and diplomacy and stressed the need to avoid escalation, the ministry said, adding that Modi underlined India’s opposition to terrorism in all forms.
