The French President reaffirms his country's backing for the ceasefire in Ukraine

French President Emmanuel Macron said he held extensive consultations with his Ukrainian counterpart Volodymyr Zelensky and a number of European leaders.

In a post on his Twitter page, Macron affirmed his country's full support for a ceasefire, paving the way for discussions aimed at reaching a permanent solution that guarantees Ukraine's legitimate rights and enhances its security and that of the European continent.

President Macron's position comes after the Kremlin announced earlier today that Russia and the United States had reached an agreement to hold a bilateral meeting between President Vladimir Putin and his US counterpart, Donald Trump, in the coming days
