DUBAI — His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, announced the launch of the Dubai Museum of Art, a new cultural icon that will float on the waters of Dubai Creek, adding a distinctive artistic and architectural dimension to the city’s skyline.
Sheikh Mohammed said the museum embodies “the spirit of Dubai’s civilization and serves as a mirror reflecting its culture and creativity,” noting that it represents a new chapter in the city’s evolving artistic and architectural identity.
He expressed appreciation to Sheikh Abdullah Al Ghurair and his son Omar Al Ghurair for their initiative in developing the landmark cultural project, describing it as a model of private-sector responsibility and partnership with the public sector.
“Cities are completed by culture and art, they flourish through the economy, and they sustain themselves when their private sector takes responsibility and contributes alongside the public sector — and this is what we see in Dubai,” Sheikh Mohammed said.
The Dubai Museum of Art will showcase global and regional art, reflecting Dubai’s growing stature as a hub for culture, creativity, and innovation. The museum’s design, which appears to float above the water, adds a new aesthetic layer to the city’s iconic architecture and urban diversity.
The Dubai Museum of Art, launched by Sheikh Mohammed, is set to become a cultural icon with its unique design that seems to float on water. This project, a collaboration between the public and private sectors, underscores Dubai's commitment to art and culture. It aims to enhance the city's skyline and solidify its status as a global center for creativity and innovation.
