KOZHIKODE: Kerala’s Council of Ministers, led by Chief Minister V.D. Satheesan, is participating in a two-day leadership retreat at the Indian Institute of Management Kozhikode (IIMK), aimed at exploring new approaches to governance and the state’s long-term development.

The programme, titled “Reimagining Keralam with IIM Kozhikode”, is being held on September 4 and 5 and brings together the state’s political leadership, academics and experts for a series of strategic discussions.

IIM Kozhikode described the initiative as a “transformative leadership retreat for the State Cabinet”, designed to take ministers beyond the demands of day-to-day administration and encourage discussion on Kerala’s future.

Satheesan said the programme would include an interactive session led by IIMK Director Prof. Debashis Chatterjee, as well as discussions involving experts from King’s College London and Keio University in Japan.

The sessions are expected to focus on areas including the use of artificial intelligence in governance, climate change, disaster management and financial innovation.

Special sessions will also be led by Dr. Devi Shetty, founder and chairman of Narayana Health, and Dr. Aravind Srinivasan of Aravind Eye Care, with discussions focusing on healthcare and related areas.

The retreat comes as Kerala seeks to address emerging economic, technological and environmental challenges while examining how innovation and global expertise can be incorporated into public administration.
