OSLO : The latest assistance package will focus primarily on supplying ammunition for Ukraine’s F-16 fighter jets and strengthening advanced air defence systems, Norwegian authorities said. The funding is being provided under the “Jump-Start” initiative, which operates through the US Foreign Military Sales (FMS) programme.
Under this mechanism, Norway can procure military equipment and services directly from the US Department of Defense, ensuring faster acquisition and delivery of critical supplies to Ukraine.
The package, expected to be delivered in the near future, also includes funding for a system that converts low-cost missiles into high-precision smart munitions. These can be used both by aircraft and ground-based air defence systems, significantly enhancing operational flexibility and effectiveness.
With this latest allocation, Norway’s total military support to Ukraine in 2025 will rise to approximately 10 billion Norwegian kroner.
In a significant move, Norway is providing a $314 million military aid package to Ukraine, emphasizing ammunition for F-16s and air defense enhancements. The aid, under the 'Jump-Start' initiative, facilitates quick procurement from the US. It also includes funding for converting missiles into smart munitions, enhancing Ukraine's operational flexibility.
