Brussels: The European Commission said the new funding aims to address urgent humanitarian needs arising from the worsening situation on the ground, where thousands of civilians have been forced to flee El Fasher and its surrounding areas.
The latest contribution brings the EU’s total humanitarian funding for Sudan in 2025 to more than €273 million. This amount supports both civilians inside Sudan and Sudanese refugees in neighboring countries.
According to the Commission, the newly allocated aid will focus on expanding emergency response efforts in North Darfur, particularly in the Tawila area, which currently hosts the largest number of displaced people. The assistance will prioritize access to clean water, sanitation services, and emergency shelter to alleviate the dire living conditions faced by those affected by the ongoing conflict.
