Oman records modest rise in inflation amid mixed price trends

Oman’s inflation rises 0.8% in July — food prices fall, but transport and services push costs higher.

MUSCAT : Oman recorded a modest 0.8% rise in its Consumer Price Index (CPI) in July compared to the same month last year, according to the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI).

The increase was largely fuelled by higher costs in miscellaneous goods and services (+6.5%), transport (+4%), and restaurants & hotels (+2.5%). In contrast, prices for food and non-alcoholic beverages fell 1.4%, easing pressure on household spending. Other categories, including housing, communications, and utilities, remained stable.
